Lisa Balaam, author of the first
Abbey the Cavi book was born in River Falls,
Wisconsin. As a child she enjoyed writing poetry and
children's songs for her family and friends, sometimes humorously
non-sensical and sometimes so unforgetable that one is sung at her
old elementary school to this day. From an early age, Lisa
found she had a natural talent for writing verse, often
describing a scene, or a moment in time she wanted to cature from
the heart. As she grew up her fun verse turned to poetry about
life and she will be publishing examples in a new book. Lisa's
first book was written to be enjoyable for adults to read
to their children as well as for children to establish an early
love for reading through her witty verse. Together with her
husband, Lisa has enjoyed visiting many places
around the world, and plans to help children recognize some of
these locations through colorful pictorial representation within a
verse storyline. By doing so, it will introduce children to a fun
way of remembering a little geography and culture, while
transfered into the story through the fantasy of the
characters known as Abbey's friends. Lisa holds a degree in psychology from the
University of Wisconsin. She lives with her husband Steven and
the real-life Abbey, in Miami Beach,
Florida. E-Mail: Lisa.Balaam@BalaamBooks.com |
